Uber Chic Kurly Dame: Shinghai Shoniwa

Hands down, Shinghai Shoniwa (from The Noisettes) is one of my top favorites when it comes to beautiful, kinky kurly hair. I would be thrilled to meet her one day and talk hair.  I adore her modern, with a retro twist style up-do's. Like her, I luv up-do's with retro elements. Ever since my teen years when I discovered Dorothy Dandridge, I've been obsessed with 1930's thru 1950's fashion and hair styles.

To this day, I just love how the women back then didn't even have the money or amount of options and technology like we do now afforded to them and yet they always looked like a million bucks. I mean, SHARP. The types of hairstyles women wore then were so elegant and chic. I dig it. I luv that Shinghai's funky yet chic up-do's have these vintage influences. I think she has become one of my muses. Sweet.
