Skin Care: Oil Cleansing Method

I've been using this method for a while and it works wonderfully for me. Since implementing this method (and the Skin MD Naturals Shielding Lotion) into my skin care regimen, my skin is way less oily; dare I say it, it's "normal" now. Plus it evens out my skin tone more, softens and gives my skin a beautiful glow.

The most important oil in this method is castor oil. It has amazing anti-inflammatory, healing and cleansing properties. Since I have oily skin, I use a 30:70 blend of castor oil and EVOO. It is recommended that you employ this method at night before bed so that is when I do it. I pour some of the oil in my hands and massage it into my face. I massage it in for about 30 seconds to a minute and then I run a wash cloth under very warm to hot water, ring it out, and place it over my face. The steam helps moisturize and soften your skin. It is also said to help open the pores thus helping your skin rid itself of toxins. I leave the wash cloth on for about 30 (-60) seconds and wipe the excess oil off my face with the rag. After this I continue on with the rest of my cleansing, toning, and moisturizing routine.

This method can be used on all skin types. I highly recommend you do your research first and visit  HERE before trying this method.

I never would have thought to put castor oil on the face because of its thickness. Very interesting. Thanks for the tutorial.

I think I may try this after my current regimen using ayurvedic soap. I will definitely check out the link first though!

I've done this with EVOO, but never tried castor oil. Does the smell bother you? Castor oil has a serious stench.

Makeup Theory, my castor oil is odorless. If you skin isn't sensitive, maybe a couple drops of an essential oil would help with the "stench" if you don't have the odorless kind.
