My Hair: Twists Challenge Update: Tiny Twists

My two weeks in my last set was up this past Sunday, but I decided to take them down early b/c I was tired of that set. So, that Thursday night: I took them down, conditioned and washed them, and let air dry overnight in twisted sections. Then I got up early Friday morning and further stretched my hair by blow drying each section on low then got to twisting.

From left to right: Resulting twist out from first set of twists, New set of tiny twists, Back view of tiny twists

I decided to actually make them tiny, a la Kinky Kurly Queen, this time so it took me longer to complete them. They took me roughly 5.5 hrs. Yes, I'm a good one and yes, I have a lot of patience. I used my shea pudding again with fabulous results. I plan to leave this set in for 4-6 weeks. These took a minute to put in and they need to stay in for a minute too. Lol.

I really like them and was pleasantly surprised to see how long my hair has gotten. (This is all my hair, not one extension in there, bay-beeee.) Shrinkage is a mutha, right? Gotta luv it all though.

My fellow challengers, are you still hangin in there with me?

I'm loving your twists Milan! and look at the length...sweet!!!!! somehow I'm not feeling my twists anymore, I took down my twists that I put in about 1.5 weeks ago because my head was looking like I had unkempt locs (all puffy at roots). NOT CUTE. I'll wear the twistout until the end of the week and then twist again fresh. I typically do mine small but they don't "hang" right...like yours going all in one direction. even when I use the satin "do rag" at nights...and they get all flattened. UGH. ok. vent over. :)

Great twists! This is such a fun stage of growth, long enough to do styles when stretched but short enough to approximate a twa with a wash and go. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm currently in my second week of a set of twists. I braid the roots then the twist the rest to help them last longer and prevent puffy roots. Plus, I can make the parts last longer by washing with the twists in, then redoing just the twisted part. The only ones that I redo completely (braided roots and all) are the ones on the edges, since you can see the roots completely.

Lol. Thanks ladies. I absolutely luv them!

Moni: You're always full of knowledge and great ideas. I luv it! I'm gonna try that. I'm gonna do it in the front where it gets really fuzzy/puffy at the roots.

I feel you Gia, I felt that way about my twists for a while. It will pass and they'll "fall right" soon.

Your twists are gorgeous! I'm currently on week three with my mini twists. I feel you on the length of time, it is no joke! I'm also thinking of doing 4-6 weeks. I just keep redoing the cornrows in the front (though I haven't redone them this week and they look a hot mess.... beanie time!).

Thank you. I tie a scarf around my head and then put on a satin bonnet each night to keep them laying flat and reduce frizz this way.
