So I'm learning a lot about my hair this winter. Those who followed the 1st year of my natural hair journey last year, know that I mainly kept my hair in braids the duration of the winter. This is my first winter wearing my hair "out".
I learned the hard way that my hair does NOT vibe well with glycerin in the cold and dry months like it does in the humid summer. My favorite leave ins/daily moisturizers: KBB Hair Milk and Shea Moisture Shea Butter Leave In, have been banished till the spring. They both have glycerin in them and by the end of the day my hair was feeling dry, dry, DRY. At first I couldn't understand why. Then I remember reading on various hair forums about glycerin sometimes sucking moisture from your hair if there wasn't any to suck from the air.
So now I use my shea frosting as my leave in and daily moisturizer (misting on water or my moisturizing mist first). I'm going to be creating a pudding soon though and I will try moisturizing with that and leaving the frosting for sealing.
So weigh in ladies. Any of you notice this too? What say you?

Thanks for chiming in ladies. I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this craziness. :D
I still use glycerin mists, but only before I go to bed. I don't know, when I couple it with Shea butter, my hair feels moisturized throughout the day.
Wait, I take that back. My hair feels frozen when I'm outside for a long period of time, but once my hair "melts" inside, it is back to normal.
